Enterprises are shifting to a carrier-managed version of SD-WAN, with only about a quarter of companies preferring a DIY approach, says Roopa Honnachari, industry director, business services and cloud computing for Frost & Sullivan's ICT practice. The complexities around how software-defined WANs impact underlying networks and services is driving 50% enterprises to prefer fully managed SD-WANs while another 25% opt for co-managed services, she says. That shift is also enabling SD-WAN to move beyond the early deployment stage to the early growth stage, Honnachari says.
