North Pole - subject of #fakenews more than a century ago - the Awesome World of Things

The claims made by explorers Cook and Peary in reaching the North Pole are both disputed and cannot be proven. Cook’s claim was immediately dismissed but Peary’s claim has been debated for over a century with modern analysis concluding that the claim is unlikely. Ironically, the first confirmed visual sighting of the North Pole from the air was by the South Pole conqueror Roald Amundsen.
